Almost every application needs: a passport valid for at least six months with blank pages, recent passport photographs to the destination's specification, proof of funds (usually bank statements), proof of accommodation and a return flight itinerary.
Beyond that, requirements vary sharply by destination and visa type — employment letters, sponsorship letters, invitation letters, travel insurance, tuberculosis testing and biometrics all appear in some processes.
